Welcome to the internet site of Hotel Nicolaas Witsen Amsterdam. Hotel Nicolaas Witsen is a 3-star hotel in a beautiful and quiet street in the centre of Amsterdam, called the Nicolaas Witsenstraat. The three buildings in which the hotel is situated are built in 1906 and have a beautiful historical character.
The hotel and the street are named after Nicolaes Witsen. He lived from 1641 up to 1717 and was a diplomat and writer. Moreover he was mayor of Amsterdam for 13 times from 1682 to 1706. Also, he was commander of the VOC and ambassador extraordinaire to the court in the United Kingdom. Nicolaes Witsen was an expert in the field of maritime construction. He wrote books that disclose a vivid recollection of the Dutch maritime construction in the 17th century.
Hotel Nicolaas Witsen has an ideal location. Within 300 metres you can find the best-known market of Amsterdam, the Albert Cuyp-market, and the Heineken Museum. The royal theatre Carré is only 500 metres from the hotel. The ‘Rijksmuseum’, the Van Goghmuseum and well-known entertainment-centres, such as the Leidseplein or Rembrandtplein, you can find at less than 700 metres from the hotel.
The hotel has 28 rooms those can all be reached by elevator. All rooms are non-smoking. There is a hotel bar where breakfast is served. After a busy day you can relax and enjoy a drink here as well.
In the morning from 7.15 to 10.30 you can enjoy our breakfast buffet, which is consist of coffee and/or tea, orange juice, several types of breads, boiled egg, cucumber and tomato, several types of meats, cheese, jam, honey, butter, peanut butter and chocolate spread, cerials and fresch fruits.
